Jean Marie Guarr, 96, of Shawnee, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was born May 30, 1918 in Topeka, KS, as the second of six children. She spent about 15 years working for the Santa Fe railroad after high school and later worked for several years in the rectory at Most Pure Heart of Mary parish in Topeka. She was a lifelong Kansas resident and a member of St. Joseph parish in Shawnee for many years. In 1951, she married Joseph S. Guarr, and they remained loving companions until his death in 1983.

She was also preceded in death by siblings Elizabeth Vossman and Philip Kelley and grandson Ian. She is survived by a sister Margaret (Peggy), brothers Robert and Lawrence, daughter Judith, sons Michael, David, and Thomas, as well as grandsons Joseph and Evan.

Memorial Services and Acknowledgement

A memorial mass will be arranged at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Shawnee Mission Medical Center for the excellent care they provided for Jean.
