Jean Ann Schumacher Kasari Rieder

Jean Ann Schumacher Kasari Rieder, 83, passed away October 6, 2010, at Villa St. Francis in Olathe.

Jean Ann was born in Shawnee, Kansas, on July 28, 1927, to Ted Schumacher and Mattie Caenen Schumacher. She went to St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from Shawnee Mission Rural High School in 1945. She moved to California in 1945 with her family and moved back to the Olathe area in 2004 after re-connecting with her high school sweetheart, Richard.

She is proceeded in death by her first husband, Elmer Kasari; parents, Ted and Mattie Schumacher; brother, Bob Schumacher; and sisters, Mary Margaret Tielens and Louise Rollheiser. She leaves behind her husband, Richard Rieder of Olathe; sister, Martie Brown (Hal) of Hemet, California; daughters, Donna Ellison (Jim) of Roseburg, Oregon and Diane Henry (David) of Laguna Hills, California; granddaughters, Erin Bailey, Catherine Shulda, and Elizabeth Henry; two stepdaughters Janet Verstraete and Joyce Heil; stepson, Rick Rieder; 5 nieces and 7 nephews; 11 step-grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren.

She loved music, crafts, painting, traveling, crossword puzzles, and recalling stories from her childhood. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the kindness and gentle caring of the Hospice Staff, with special thanks to Anita, during her illness.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 11, 2010, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 W. Main St., Gardner, Kansas; burial in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2010, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a Rosary recitation will be at 6:00 p.m.
