Jennie Barbieri, spirited mother of six, loving grandmother and great grandmother, died comfortably in her home surrounded by her family on the morning of Tuesday, August 21, 2012.
Born on November 3, 1923, Jennie lived a wonderful childhood in Kansas City, Missouri where she married her husband Roger J. Barbieri. Together they raised six children as parishioners of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Later in her life, her husband Roger passed leaving her widowed which she was able to overcome with grace and poise.
After the passing of her husband, she maintained her steadfast energy and continued to care for her children and grandchildren. She was an active parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She lived a fulfilled life and enjoyed traveling across the United States with family and friends in addition to many trips abroad. She had a great sense of humor and shared countless hours visiting with lifelong friends. She was a master of Italian cooking and baking.
It is the endless memories shared with her that her children and grandchildren will miss. Whether it was gathering at her house during the holidays, enjoying her amazing cooking, or just a brief moment drinking a cup of coffee with her, Nana will be fondly remembered. Jennie was the cornerstone of her family. She always had a way of bringing everyone together to create fond memories.
