Jerry Branscum

Jerry Branscum, 80, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away October 11, 2018. Jerry was born December 6, 1937, in Caraway, Arkansas, to Berlin and Sarah Jesse Branscum. He was the youngest of eight siblings, who have all gone before him. He graduated from Arkansas State University with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1959. He earned a Master's in Business Administration in 1974. He took a job with Ralston Purina Company, where he worked until 1983, in positions that took him all over the world. He came to Kansas City in 1983. Jerry had many interests and engaged over the years in hobbies including bowling, tennis, and sailing. He was a long-term member and Past Commander of the Kansas City Power & Sail Squadron. He was known as a hard worker and provider for his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty; three daughters, Denise, Sara, and Jaya, a son, Thom, and a son-in-law Rik; and three grandchildren, Claire, Zeffi, and Gaelen.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., at the Nall Avenue Baptist Church, 6701 Nall Avenue, Prairie Village, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
