Joan Elizabeth Asperheim

November 5, 1935 — July 16, 2018

Joan Elizabeth Asperheim, 82, of Shawnee, Kansas and beloved wife of Dale R. Asperheim, passed away on Monday July 16th, 2018.

Joan was born in Duluth, Minnesota on November 5, 1935 to James (Gordy) and Clara Mitchell. She was a graduate of Denfeld High School and attended Duluth Business School. She was a member of Graceway church.

Joan's life was a ministry of love as she invested her life in others. Her love for the Lord Jesus Christ and God's Word formed the foundation of her daily walk fortified by a deep faith and many active ministries at church. She was a wonderful woman, wife, homemaker, and took great joy in raising her three children. She leaves a legacy of unconditional love for her family and friends. She loved the opportunity to have family and friends in her home where she could love on them with many kindnesses, wonderful meals, and tremendous homemade desserts too varied to describe.

She is survived by her husband Dale of 62 years, her son Scott Asperheim and his wife Ann of Leawood, KS; daughter Christine Cristiano and her husband Peter of Lansing, KS; son Richard Asperheim and wife Paula of Newcastle, OK; along with grandchildren Michelle (Austin) Gillard of Clay Center, KS; Elizabeth (Jimmy) Allen of Kansas City, MO; Katie (Mike) McSweeney of Topeka, KS; Jessica Asperheim of Lewisville, TX; Cale Asperheim of Norman, OK; and great grandchildren Gavin and Ella Gillard; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday July 19th at the Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS.  Additional visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Graceway prior to service on Friday.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00  a.m. Friday July 20th at Graceway 5460 Blue Ridge Cutoff, Raytown, MO 64133.

Graveside service will be held in Duluth, MN on Monday July 23rd.

Memorial gifts may be made to Graceway Children's Ministry.
