JoAnne Lightfoot, 77, of Shawnee, Kansas, joined our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 23, 2013.
She attended the Kansas School for the Deaf where she met the love of her life, Thomas M. Lightfoot. They settled in Shawnee, Kansas, where they raised their five daughters. JoAnne was very active within the Deaf community in numerous capacities. She was awarded Volunteer of the Year at the Deaf Cultural Center (DCC) in 2010 for her dedication. JoAnne had a very loving and giving spirit; she was loved by all that knew her.
She was born in Frankfort, Kansas, to Joseph and Lucille Musil who preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Thomas, her five daughters: Connie Hensley, Patty Klein, Peggy Remy (Chuck), Krista Speer (Rick), and Anita Gemsky-Conklin (Jeff); 21 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
JoAnne's proudest accomplishment was her family.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2013, also at the funeral home. Burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, Shawnee, Kansas.
