Joanne Regan Mccarron

January 3, 1931 — January 21, 2017

On January 21st 2017 Joanne McCarron peacefully passed away after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's. In 1931 Joanne was born to Joseph P. and Ada E. Regan in Kansas City, KS. After graduating from Argentine High School in 1948 she went on to work as an administrative assistant.

In the spring of 1953, Joanne was married to the love of her life, John J. McCarron. Through this union they brought two loving daughters into their family; Mary Elaine and Ann Lorraine. As a family they were blessed with many opportunities to travel. Joanne was a dedicated and active full time mother and focused all her energy on her family.

Due to the unfortunate loss of her husband at a young age, Joanne took on the sole responsibility of being the family bread winner without hesitation. Initially, Joanne was employed at KU Med Center before gaining employment with the federal government, dedicating 23 years of service to them prior to her retirement in 1999.

Joanne was an avid seamstress, gardener, world traveler, and professional grandma spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joanne was proceeded in death by her husband John, her parents, her sister Mary Spaulding, brother Gene Regan and her son-in-law, Bert Altis.

She leaves her behind her daughters, Elaine Altis of Olathe, KS, Ann (Ron) Istas of Kansas City, MO and her loving brother, John (Joan) Regan of Sarasota, Fl. Also left behind are her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Adam) Borders, Brooke (Peter) Fucile, Amy (Bryan) Schmitt, Thomas (Tricia) Istas, and Kathleen Istas. Six great grandchildren and two little ones on the way will also dearly miss her.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Garden Terrace, TLC1, for their dedicated and loving care of Joanne during the last years of her life.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Amos Family Funeral Home.
