Jody Dalessandro

November 28, 1953 — December 20, 2020

Jody Jean D'Alessandro was born in Castro Valley, California on  November 28, 1953, she was the only child of Alameda County Sheriff and WWII Veteran Erle Hix Smith and his beloved wife Priscilla.  After a ferociously-fought battle with Breast Cancer, she passed peacefully in her home on December 20, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones.

Jody was known for many things throughout her life, but no quality was more prevalent than her love for family and friends. Whether you were a member of her H&R Block family, one of her children’s friends, or anyone else she was close to, she never hesitated to lend an ear or provide support.

Jody was above all else a devoted wife to her husband Del and a fiercely loving mother of her two sons Brandon and Jason Harrison.  She was known as a person who consistently put others before herself, she had an infectious sense of humor and a smile that lit up any room.   She loved her country, her family, poker and spending time cheering on her beloved Chiefs and Jayhawks.  Jody loved to travel including Mother's Day trips to Vegas and one of her favorite trips to San Antonio to see the Jayhawks win the Final Four in 2008.

Jody is survived by her husband Del D'Alessandro, son Brandon Harrison, son Jason Harrison and his wife Ashley, step-daughter Sandee Morgan and her husband Carl, three grandchildren, her cousins Rob Robertson, Melissa Blount, Ben Dennis, David Dennis, Debbie Dennis and aunt Diane Bowtell.

Due to Covid restrictions a private service will be held on Wednesday, December 23rd.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
