Joe J. Carl

Joe J. Carl, 82, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away June 29, 2010.

He was born October 25, 1927 in Springfield, Missouri to Calvin and Velma (Jennings) Carl. He served in the US Navy during WWII and then received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri, Rolla, MO. Joe was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a Charter and Life member of NRA Whittington Center and KSRA, a member of Missouri Valley Arms Collectors, and Mill Creek Rifle Club.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and wife Evelyn Carl in 1985.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Carl, his daughters; Nancy Gragert (Allen) of West Columbia, Texas and Peggy Carl of Ozark, Missouri; by his step-children; Fred Condra (Kerry) of Littleton, Colorado, Ed Condra (Debi) of Richardson, Texas and Peggy Young (Don) of Potosi, Missouri; and by 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Tall Grass Creek staff and KC Hospice for their care and attention.

Memorial donations in Joe's memory may be made to the Whittington Center or Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Visitation and Memorial Service

A visitation will be held Friday, July 2, 2010, from 1:00 to 1:30 pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 10100 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 pm at the church.
