John Burstein

John Burstein, 61, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away August 6, 2015.

He was born April 13, 1954, in Kansas City, MO, son of Richard and Suzanne Burstein. John attended SM East High School.

John worked for the family business, Meyer Jewelry Corporation for over 20 years. He was extremely committed to his life and friends at Alcoholics Anonymous where he made a significant impact on many lives and considered all life-long friends. He was an avid sports fan, especially the KC Royals and Kansas Jayhawks. His gruff no-nonsense style mixed with his humor and compassion for others will be truly missed.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Suzanne and Richard Burstein. He is survived by his three siblings, Stephen Burstein of Kansas City, MO, Carol Halper (George) of Overland Park, KS and Nan Oscherwitz (John) of Carmel, Indiana. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Greg and Julie Halper and Jeffrey, Ryan and Adam Oscherwitz.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 10, 2015 at Amos Family Funeral Chapel, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS. The family will receive friends following the celebration.
