John Alan Campbell, 55, of Shawnee, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014.

John was born December 16, 1958, to the late Tom and Patricia Campbell in Rock Island, Illinois. John attended Rock Island High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from the University of Iowa. John worked as a Network Analyst for Ericsson.

John's real passion in life was advocating for animal adoption. There are few regulars at Shawnee Mission Dog Park who don't know John and his rescue dogs, Cooper and Dustin. He was there with his "boys" daily - come rain, shine, snow or sub-zero temperatures.

John was preceded in death by his sisters, Patti Ann and Tammy Miranda; and brother William. He is survived by his loving partner Kurt Ford; five brothers: Thomas Campbell, Jr. and wife Karen, Scott Campbell and wife Maria, Michael J. Campbell and wife Kim, Steven Campbell and wife Alexandria, and Jeff Campbell; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind dear family friend, Jim Cass, and his family, and his faithful companions, Cooper and Dustin.

John was one of the kindest and most generous men to grace this earth and he is missed dearly by so many.

Celebration of Life Services

A Celebration of John's life will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
