John Coy, of Shawnee, died on Tuesday, August 1st at the Kansas City Hospice after a short illness. He was born in Kansas City on November 22, 1928, son of John Gaston and Marie (Samuelson) Coy. John worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 54 years mostly as an engineer. He was honored by the railroad for his long and faithful service. John was an avid participant in local railroad hobbyist activities and enjoyed attending national railroad conventions, especially in retirement. John will be remembered for his warm personality, his friendliness and great, good sense of humor. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Margaret and is survived by his wife Kathryn and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. John's family is most appreciative of Shawnee Mission Hospital for the excellent care and effort given to him.
.A memorial service will be held at 9:30 AM on Sunday, August 20 at the Faith Lutheran Church, 4805 West 67th Street; Prairie Village, Kansas.
