John Francis Foltz, 86, was born on September 7, 1931, in Garnett, KS. He attended Earnest Grade School and Garnett High school. In 1954, he married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Ann Rockers. Johnnie served in the U.S. Army, 1957-58. He worked for Bendix and the U.S. Postal Service where he received many awards for excellence. Contributing to the ASPCA, Boys Town and Catholic Charities was of great importance to him and he enjoyed being a member of the Serra Club of KC. His vocation as husband, dad, and grandpa provided a firm, faith-filled foundation for his family. His was a steady, loving hand to hold. Johnnie believed that if you could help someone, you should, as often as you can, without counting the cost. He will be remembered for his love of the mountains, beautiful flowers, horses and dogs, for his wit, his loyalty to family and most especially, his patient, generous heart. He was a true gentleman.
Johnnie is survived by his daughter, Cindy and her husband, Scott; three grandchildren Hannah (Aaron Stepanek), Audrianna, and Joshua.
A Rosary will be at 6 p.m. on Friday at Amos Family Funeral Home with a visitation to follow until 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overland Park, KS. Burial at Holy Angel Cemetery in Garnett, KS.
