John Paul Gannon

John Paul Gannon, age 72, died at his home in Shawnee, KS, on March 16, 2019.

John was born in Topeka, KS, in 1946 to Paul and Ramona Downey Gannon. He graduated from Hayden High School and Washburn University.  John served in the United States Air Force for four years before returning home to a career with the Internal Revenue Service. He received the Albert Gallatin Award from the United States Department of the Treasury upon his retirement in 2011.

John was a member of St. Joseph parish in Shawnee and the Knights of Columbus.

In 1983 John and Mary Wohlrab were married in New Jersey.  Mary passed in 2007.  John is survived by four siblings: Carole (Paul), Tom (Betty), Jerry (Daralyn), Barbara; two brothers-in-law: Len (Janice) Wohlrab and Phil (Colleen) Wohlrab, and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10 - 11 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2019 followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
