John P. Hamilton

John P. Hamilton, 84, of Mission, Kansas died on April 1, 2023, at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission.

John was born on March 26, 1939, to Paul and Lucy (Homan) Hamilton in Springfield, Missouri. He graduated from Strafford High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Missouri State University. After college, he served 6 months’ active duty in the US Army and 3 ½ years as a reservist.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers David and George Hamilton and sister Mary (Hamilton) Clausen. John is survived by his brother Robert Hamilton, his children Robert and Erich Hamilton, ex-wife Jan Hipsher, and stepchildren Mike, Carrie, and Gary Thomas.

John spent his career as a teacher at Turner High School and was beloved by the students. He enjoyed his profession which was evident in the many handshakes he received from prior students he would encounter after his retirement.

John’s journey ended with an abundance of love for him and from him, and he will be missed.
