John Stirling Kingsley, age 62, of Lenexa, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 due to cardiac issues. John was born January 12, 1960 in Little Falls, NY to John Alvord Kingsley and Maria (Mary) Marocco Kingsley. He grew up in Salisbury Center, New York, at the foothills of the Adirondacks, where he enjoyed riding dirt bikes, swimming in Spruce Creek, hunting, wrestling, reading, and scouting. He ultimately achieved his goal of Eagle Scout. John is survived by both parents, sister Cori (Arnold) Hastings, niece Amy Hastings (Collin Carter), niece Carly, nephew Noah, and great-niece, Lou.
After high school, John attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, TX and received his bachelor’s degree in psychology. Following that, he earned his MSW (Master of Social Work) at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. John spent his days on earth trying to make life a little easier for those in the deaf community of which he was a part. His work history included time as a school counselor at the Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe and later as coordinator for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services for Comprehensive Community Care of Sedgwick County in Wichita. Most recently, he assisted in the work of his beloved Deaf International Community Church, serving as a Deacon member for 8 years, teaching life-skills and academics at the Refugee Center, encouraging deaf immigrants, teaching sign language, and offering support.
