John Frederick “Fred” Laing

John F. "Fred" Laing, 64, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at his home.

Fred was born December 22, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Herman and Odella Laing. He retired from the Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights as a regional manager in 2008, after more than 30 years of service. Fred was a past member of Celebration Church.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Hubbard) Laing; son, John Laing and wife, Marisa, Mission, Kansas; two daughters, Amanda Laing, Lenexa, Kansas and Christina Laing, Chicago, Illinois; brother, George Laing and wife, Janice, Prairie Village, Kansas; two grandsons, Zane and Quinn Laing, Mission, Kansas; and many other family and friends.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral service will 12:00 pm, Monday, June 20, 2011 at the chapel; burial in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
