John J. Lanker

John Joseph Lanker, 80 of Lenexa KS, passed away February 16, 2022.  John was the son of Emil and Josephine Lanker.  John grew up in Shawnee, KS and went to St. Joseph schools.  John married Patricia Louise Wheeldon on September 22, 1962, and they raised a family in the Shawnee Village.  Later in life they moved to Lenexa, KS where John and Patricia built a house of their dreams in 1985.  John retired from the Shawnee Post Office on March 31, 2000 as a letter carrier for 33 years.  John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ed Lanker, wife Patricia and son Vincent DeAtley.  He is survived by his daughters Teresa Ring (Jeff), Melissa Pope (Tyler), and Poo-poo (his cat); 2 grandsons Jon Ring (Holly) and Kyle Ring (Arielle); 5 great grandchildren, a brother Don Lanker (Teresa) and sister-in-law Letha Lanker.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 11th at 11:00 AM at Shawnee Cemetery in Shawnee, Kansas.
