John Williams Martin

John Williams Martin, 89, Shawnee, KS passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Cedar Lake Village, Olathe, KS.

John was born Dec. 1, 1928 in West Frankfort, IL to Elvis and Magdalene Martin. He was a 1946 graduate of the Frankfort Community High School and attended the Baltimore Institute of Technology, School of Photography.  John was a veteran of the US Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He worked for Motorola Communications for over 30 years, retiring when he was 80.

On August 7, 1954, John married Lois A. Eberhard in Mt. Carmel, IL. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas L. Martin.  John is survived by his four children, Daniel T. Martin, Kansas City, KS, Phillip L. Martin, Colchester, VT, Martha A. (Mike) Cox, Olathe, KS, and James A. (Peggy Chilson) Martin, Merriam, KS; brother, William (Pat) Martin, Pueblo, CO; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church; burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, Shawnee, KS.
