John William McLain, Jr., 90, passed away Sat., Mar. 11th, 2017, at Lakeview Village, Lenexa, KS. He was born Aug. 29, 1926, to J. W. McLain, Sr. (Bill) and Rose Brunner McLain. Jack graduated from East H.S. in 1943 and enlisted in the Navy during WWII. After the war, he returned home and joined his parents in partnership at their newly established McLain's Bakery in Waldo. He married JoAnn Robbins on Oct. 4, 1947. Jack was a long-time member of Overland Park Christian Church and a member of Overland Park Host Lions Club. He was preceded in death by Jo Ann in 2010 and his daughter Jackie in 1982. Survivors include children Mike (Helen), Julie Heng (Nick); grandchildren Carrie (Chris) Parazin, Nathan (Cindy), Jonah, and Jenna Heng; 3 great-grandsons, Vin, Grady, and Campbell Parazin. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Lakeview Village Care Center for the many years they cared for both Jack and JoAnn. Also sincere thanks to Vitas Hospice staff for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be Mon, Mar. 20th from 10-11 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. at Overland Park Christian Church, 7600 W. 75th St. Private burial.
