John A. Meyer, 76, a retired banker living in Olathe, Kansas, passed away on August 22, 2012.
He was born December 25, 1935, in Jamestown, Missouri. He was the son of Harry and Alma Meyer.
John served in the US Army during the Korean War. He married his wife Joyce Coester in 1960. He was an involved member of many civic clubs: Rotary, Kansas Calvary, and Lion’s Club to name a few. He was also a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #370 of Overland Park, and Sons of the American Revolution, Delaware Chapter.
He is survived by his wife Joyce of the home; sons, Scott (Dianne) Meyer, Jeff (Gina) Meyer; daughter Stacy (Ray) Joslyn; grandchildren, Erica (Nic) Roberts, Paden Meyer, Erin Meyer, Kaytlan Meyer, Emily Meyer, Johnna Joslyn, and Garrett Meyer; and siblings, Herry Meyer, Charlotte Medley, and Carmen Layman.
A visitation will be from 1:30-2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2012, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 21155 College Boulevard, Olathe, Kansas. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. A private family burial will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
