John E. Riley

John E. Riley, 90, of Shawnee, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

John was born March 14, 1919 to Elmer and Lorena Riley in Atchison, Kansas. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II. John was preceded in death by his first wife Phronzie on August 29, 1997; three sisters, Ethel, Hazel, and Mildred; and two brothers, William and Harold.

He is survived by his wife Edith Riley, of the home; two daughters, Teresa Wright, and Saundra Morgan and husband Darrell; a son John W. Riley and wife Mary; and two sisters, Ruthanna Kenney and Dorothy Costello; 6 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-great grandchildren also survive him.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Vitas Hospice, 4041 S. Lynn Court Drive, Independence, Missouri 64055.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
