John Edward Rosner

June 18, 1938 — April 10, 2019

John E. Rosner, 80, of Shawnee, KS, passed away on April 10, 2019. He was born on June 18, 1938, at home on Hayes St. in Merriam, KS, to Lloyd and Eloise Rosner. John is preceded in death by his infant son, John F. Rosner; brother, Tony Rosner. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Trudy McGrath Rosner; children, Bryan Rosner (Colleen), Diane Valencia (Mike); grandchildren, Bryan S. Rosner (Austin), Lauren Rosner (Shawn), Molly Valencia, Michael Valencia (Diana); great-grandchildren, Michael Shawn McGowan, Maggi V. Purinton; siblings, Connie Klein (Jim), Mike Rosner (Ramona); sister-in-law, Vickie Rosner .

John immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corp following graduation from St. Joseph High School in 1956. His military timeline goes as follows: Boot camp San Diego, Infantry Training Camp Pendleton, sent to Military Police Training, received meritorious promotion to Corporal, transferred to Brig Company as a Brig Chaser, remained in Brig Company, promoted to Sergeant, honorably discharged in 1959.

Upon his return to Shawnee, John married, started a family, and his brick laying career. His passions were sports (golf) and his dog, Daisy.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff with both Shawnee Gardens and Great Lakes Hospice.

A visitation will be held on Monday from 10-11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a funeral mass to immediately follow.
