John David "Dave" Shockey

John David "Dave" Shockey, 66, died at his Shawnee, KS, home on July 3, 2023. Born June 2, 1957, in Kansas City, MO, to Mary Branigan Shockey and Charles Earl Shockey, Jr, His parents and sister, Jan preceded him in death.

Dave grew up in Prairie Village, KS. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1975, where he played basketball for the Raiders. After receiving his bachelor's in communications from the University of Kansas, he worked in sales. Survivors: Jackson "Jack" Shockey, his beloved son; Sheila Ackerman Shockey, Jack’s mother and Dave’s former wife; siblings Charles "Chip" E. Shockey, III. (Sherry), Lynda Perky, Laura Kracht (Steve), his nieces and nephews, and their families. Dave loved music, sports, golfing, lake life, and spending time with his son, extended family, and friends.

Friends are invited to celebrate Dave’s life in Downtown Overland Park, KS on Sunday, September 10 at 1:30 p.m. 7944 Santa Fe Dr. The family will spread Dave's ashes at his favorite Lake of the Ozarks spot.
