John H. Smart

John H. Smart, 81, Shawnee, KS passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016.

John was born March 29, 1935 in Atchison, KS to Fred and Freda Smart. He graduated from Mauer Hill Catholic High School in Atchison, KS. John was employed with Sysco Food Service for 15 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church for over 40 years.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Deola Smart on June 7, 2001, sister, Juanita Roths and brother, Bud Smart. Survivors include his three daughters, Roxann (Bill) Monti, Weldon Spring, MO, Taffy (Joe) Smith, Kansas City, MO and Elizabeth (Chris) Naramore, Kansas City, MO; brother, Richard (Charlotte) Smart, Hastings, NE; nine grandchildren, Tim Monti, Jonathan Monti, Cindy Mastin, Joey Smith, Stephanie Smith, Meghan Zarda, Matthew Miller, Mark Miller and Adam Miller; and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10-11:00 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Atchison, KS.
