John Douglas Wright

December 15, 1932 — May 15, 2021

John “Jack” Douglas Wright, 88, peacefully passed away on May 15, 2021 surrounded by loved ones.
Jack was born on December 15, 1932 to John and Marguerite Wright in Cleveland, OH. After graduating from St. Leo College Preparatory School in 1950, he went on to study civil engineering at Georgia Tech.
After graduating from college, he served as a Captain in the Army and then began a career as a civil engineer and retired as a manufacturing project manager.
After retiring in 1999, Jack moved to Fayetteville, AR. He audited classes at the University of Arkansas, became a Razorback fan, was involved in the campus ministry and traveled to Dallas, Kansas City and St. Louis to visit his children and grandchildren. He and his wife moved to the Kansas City area in 2019.
Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, and was active in many aspects of the Catholic church.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Patricia Wright and Fran Dessert, and a son-in-law, Lowell Roberson. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his children Jennifer Roberson, Tammy (Brian) Bailey, Marian (John) Gravlin, Christine (Timothy) Capehart and Paul (Bridget) Wright, his step children, Cheryl Thomas, Michael (Rhonda) Thomas and Michelle (Brian) Granica, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Private funeral mass and a graveside ceremony will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville, MO.
