Jonathan D. George

d. February 5, 2025

Jonathan D. George, Sr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on February 5, 2025.

He was born in Jakin, Georgia to Lebertra George and Benjamin Brewer. His early years were spent between the family farm in Jakin and New Orleans, Louisiana. He was educated through High School in New Orleans and graduated from Southern University, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a BA degree and a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army. He completed Flight School at Fort Rucker Alabama and flew fixed wings and helicopters. Captain George served in Viet Nam as a pilot. After discharge, he was hired as a pilot for Trans World Airlines. During a furlough from TWA he flew for the General Electric Company out of Schenectady, New York. Jon enjoyed traveling and being outdoors. Years of camping, boating and relaxing on the lake with family, extended family and a host of his children’s friends were joyful times for Jon.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, daughter, Jaye, sons Jon, Jr, and Jason, in-law children, Wendolyn and Matthew, step siblings, Artinci, Jean, Briddie and Dorothy, God-children Josie, Debbie, Courtney Corey Gregory and Dameron.

Jon touched the lives of many generations in his family. Those who preceded him in death experienced his extraordinary care and support. He called those of his generation and the next “The downline generations” and encouraged them in faith and demonstrated the power of education. He loved unconditionally. Jon will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Our hearts are fractured.
