Joseph Anthony Arroyo, Sr.

Joseph Anthony "Tony" Arroyo, Sr., age 83, passed away on Thursday September 22, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City Missouri.  Tony was born to Felix and Ramona Arroyo on September 22, 1939.  In 1962 he married Trini Hernandez and they had two sons, Joseph Jr., and Christopher. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Christopher, sister Guadalupe and brother Albert.

Tony is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Trini; son Joseph Jr (Andrea), grandsons; Christopher and Anthony, sisters; Teresa Villanueva, Margie Rodriguez (Arturo) and Ramona, brothers; Felix (Rose), Raymond (Esther) and Michael.

A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr.  Shawnee, KS with mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.

Tony was a proud veteran of the Marine Corps and was honorable discharged in 1958.  He earned his GED and later earned an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts.   Tony worked for the Ford Assembly plant in Claycomo, MO for 32 years before he retired in 2001.  He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Unity Council #709, where he served as Grand Knight for 13 years.

Tony was a wonderful husband, caring father, and a proud grandfather.  He was a sports fan who loved watching WWE wrestling, Chiefs football, Royals baseball and KU basketball.  Tony was also a very giving person and always helped whoever was in need.  He was a devout Christian who always found good in others and always prayed for everyone.  He had many friends and was a well-loved and respected member of the Argentine community.  Tony will be greatly missed by all who encountered him.

The family would like to thank the staff of KU Hospital, Brookdale Rosehill Rehab Facility and St. Luke’s Hospice House for their care and support him during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Dr.  Shawnee, KS 66203.
