Joseph Earl Donaway Sr.

Joseph Earl Donaway Sr., 72, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away January 16, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Joseph was born in Bettendorf, Iowa, December 28, 1946 to Earl and Helen Donaway. Joseph was raised in Houston Missouri. He is survived by his wife Debbie; daughter Heather and Ted King; son Joe Donaway and Chelsey; granddaughter Lilly King; siblings Fred, Ann, Liz, and Earl.

Joseph was the owner of Total Concept Pest Control in Mission, Kansas. He enjoyed gardening and growing food for those in need. He was the definition of a Green Thumb, able to grow anything. In his prime, he worked 5 gardens concurrently.  He also enjoyed canoeing and camping.

Joseph was a graduate of Houston High school class of 1964 and graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Horticulture and Entomology.
He was a skilled wood worker and built beautiful pieces ranging from jewelry boxes to garden sheds.

He loved to travel and visited every state in the continental US. He collected rocks as souvenirs from every place he went, and stacked Cairns every place he went. He always took the road less traveled and loved the scenic route.

Joseph was an honorable family man and never met a stranger in his life. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203
