Joseph E. Ryckert, age 82 passed away February 11, 2014 at Emeritus Senior Living in Overland Park, Kansas. Joseph was born March 29, 1931 in Lenexa, Kansas on the family farm to Florian V. and Sylvia E. Ryckert. Joseph owned and operated Ryckert's Market for many years. Joseph thoroughly enjoyed life, having a great love for his family and friends, and had a deep appreciation for his many long standing customers. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and traveling. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a lifelong resident of Lenexa. Joseph attended Holy Trinity Catholic School and Church, was a long standing member of VFW Post 7397 and once served as Post Commander. He proudly served in the Korean War from 1952 - 1954. Joseph is survived by his daughters; Diane (Gary) Paden, Mary (Howard) Penny, son, Paul Ryckert, grandchildren; Matthew (Shauna) Paden, Dan Ryckert, Melissa (Tim) Franzen, Alissa and Bianca Ryckert, great-grandchildren; Alexa and Lydia Franzen and Danica Paden, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Bernice, his parents, twin sister Mary Boehm, brothers; Leonard, Arthur, Lawrence, Ralph and Carl Ryckert.

Services

A Rosary will be held at 5:30 PM, Friday, February 14, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church 13612 W 92nd Street Lenexa, Kansas 66215 with a visitation following from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday February 15, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa.
