Joseph Vandekerkhove

January 31, 1935 — February 10, 2019

Joseph (Joe) VanDeKerkhove, 84, of Lenexa, KS passed away on February 10th, 2019 at the Olathe Hospice House. He was born on January 31, 1935 in Shawnee, KS to Felix and Margaret VanDeKerkhove.  Joe worked as a self-employed carpenter.  He served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1962 as an aviation mechanic specializing in hydraulics, electrical and fuselage repair.  Joe was a member of The American Legion Post 327 and The Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed working outside maintaining multiple gardens, woodworking, working around the house and going to auctions.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Felix & Margaret (DeVolder) VanDeKerkhove. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn, sons James VanDeKerkhove, Kenneth VanDeKerkhove (Milynn) and daughter Laura Bowman (Keith); four grandchildren Ashley and Samuel Bowman, Chandler and Adam VanDeKerkhove; sisters, Mary, Sandy, Sharon and brother Frank.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 15 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm service to follow at Amos Family Funeral Home.
