Josephine Alice Casaert

April 17, 1928 — May 3, 2019

Josephine A. Casaert, 91, of Kansas City, KS passed away peacefully Friday, May 3, 2019 at her home.

Josephine was born April 17, 1928 to the late Victor and Alida Casaert in Overland Park, Kansas.  She worked as a school bus driver for the Shawnee Mission School District for several years, and was affectionately known as "Ms. Bus Driver".  She was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Parish.  Josephine had a grateful heart, and made a point to thank everyone who helped her, no matter the size of the act.

She also had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs.  Josephine is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Hilda Ceule and Magdeline Casaert; three brothers, Philemon Casaert; Arthur Casaert; Harry Casaert and a niece, Judy Casaert.  Josphine is survived by six nephews, James Casaert; Lonny Casaert and wife Roxanne; Joe Ceule and wife Ruth; James Ceule and wife Marcia; Jerry Ceule and wife Elaine; John Casaert and wife Susan; two nieces, Betty Knapp and husband John; Shirley Lichtenauer and husband Joe; many special friends and caregivers including Vivian and Nathan Pearson; Rosetta Gaskin Nathan Pearson, II; Saundra Pearson; Michelle Pearson; David Nold and Jules Seelen.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 8311 W. 93rd Street, Overland Park, KS.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Josephine will be laid to rest in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa.
