Joyce A. Bales

Joyce A. Bales, 84, of Shawnee, KS passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Overland Park Place.

Joyce was born in Kansas City, MO and was a life-long resident of Shawnee, KS.

She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Shawnee where she was a Pioneer Girls leader. She was an avid sports fan, watching as well as participating in various sports activities.

She married James Bales on June 2, 1955 in Shawnee, KS.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; her children, Debbie DeAngelis (Rich), Ann Holmes (Joe), Cheryl Hass (Jimmy) and Mike Bales (Sherri); a brother, William Bentz, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti, a grandson Brennan Messick and a sister, Lydia.

Visitation will be 11 am, Saturday, June 27th followed by funeral services at 12 noon at the Amos Family funeral Home. Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests contributions to the First Baptist Church of Shawnee or H. I. M. Ministries.

Please be aware that due to COVID and safety precautions, we are limiting the number of people in our chapel to 45 for the funeral service. We will be rotating people through the chapel during the visitation as best as we can if more than 45 people are in at once. We ask that people respect and comply with social distancing.
