Joyce Engetschwiler, 79, passed away December 15, 2015. Joyce was born January 10, 1936 in Shawnee, Kansas to Sylvester and Estelene Harnden. Joyce is survived by her sister, Janice (Dan) Malin, three brothers, Sy (Mary) Harnden, Rev. Jerry (DeeAnne) Harnden and Jim (Cynthia) Harnden, three step-children, Skip Engetschwiler, Paul Engetschwiler, Heidi Klick, five step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and 35 beloved nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Buchan, second husband, Max Engetschwiler, and parents. Joyce was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member of the choir, and helped to serve Communion to the Community for those unable to attend church. Joyce was employed as a reservationist for Braniff Airlines out of Dallas for (5) years. Joyce worked at St. Luke's Hospital on the Plaza in the ER serving many roles. Most recently was employed at Zarda BBQ (Lenexa) for over 25 years, where she did not consider herself just an employee, she considered them her family. The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Shawnee Gardens for the love, and care they provided for Joyce.

Services

A Visitation is set for 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Friday, December 18, 2015 at The Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive Shawnee, Kansas 66203. A Mass of Christian Burial is set for 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 11311 Johnson Drive Shawnee, Kansas 66203. Burial will take place at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
