Juan Luis Parra

Juan Luis Parra, 74, St. Petersburg, FL, passed away Dec. 10, 2014 at St. Anthony's Hospital. Juan was born February 8, 1940 in Holguin, Cuba to Juan and Dulce Parra. Juan attended the Secondary Institute in Holguin for high school. After high school Juan moved to Havana to study electrical engineering at the University of Havana. While in college Juan and family fled Cuba to Spain. From Spain he moved to New York and then Kansas City, KS in 1973 where he lived for many years. Juan's professional life as a social worker was dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged youth. He will be remembered for his care for others, his faith and his unconditional love for his family.He is survived by his life partner of 38 years, Becky (Dunfee) Parra; sons, Michael, Benjamin (wife Luciana), Christopher (wife Melanie), and Nicholas; grandchildren Emily, Lia, Nicholas and Daphne; siblings Miguel, Daniel and Berta (Parra) Dominguez; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. (Viewing 1 p.m-2 p.m.), Tuesday, Dec. 16 at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS 66203; Graveside service and burial at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at Miller Cemetery, Denver, MO.
