Juanita Marie Katlin, 97, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023. She was born on October 19, 1926, in Kansas City, Missouri to Durwood Hawkins and Katherine (Murphy) Hawkins.
Juanita married Michael Katlin on May 6, 1950 and they were married 63 years until Michaels passing in 2013.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Diane) Katlin, Jerry (Dan DeLeon) Katlin, her daughter Nancy (Keith) Johnson, her grandsons Austin Johnson and Dalton Johnson, her granddaughters Lori (Trevor) Fisher, Alexia Michael (Fiancé Kyle Watrobski), Kristi Katlin (Fiancé Michael Dolan), and Lauren DeLeon, Great Grandsons Abram and Dean with another blessing due in March. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Mike Katlin and her daughter Julie Kay.
Mom absolutely adored her grandchildren. She was blessed with 6 in as many years. She was present when Alexia was born and was the first to hold her. Abram and Dean brought such joy to her heart.
Our mom was a bundle of energy and adored by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. From her close circle of best friends, coworkers, sister in laws and neighbors there was always an abundance of fun and laughter.
She loved to travel near and far. She cherished her trip to the Vatican to see the Pope and even touched his hand. An Alaskan cruise was also a favorite.
Her vanity plate on her car was 'DANCIN' and that was what she loved to do. She even tap danced on occasion.
She spent her last several years at Heritage Avonlea of Olathe. She was deeply loved by the staff who took exceptional care of her. They went above and beyond for her and we are truly grateful.
She is now reunited with her daughter, husband and all of the family and friends that left this earth before her. We were lucky to have her so many wonderful years. Although our hearts are broken we are comforted knowing she was ready to see those she lost.
