Judith “Judy” Ann Burger

b. February 15, 1942

Judith (Judy) Ann Burger, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 18th in Overland Park, Kansas.  She lived most of her life in Leawood and Overland Park, Kansas where she was a beloved mother, wife, and dedicated nurse.
Judy was born on February 15, 1942 in Atchison, Kansas to Johanna Pickman and Walter Boyle. After graduating high school, she pursued her passion of caring for others by becoming a registered nurse through her education at St. Mary's College and Providence Hospital.  After her graduation in June of 1963, she enjoyed a long career in nursing and retired from St. Joseph Medical Center in 1998.  After her retirement from St. Joseph she spent the last 10 years of her career working for Dr. John Dunlap. She married Dr. Billy F. Kay and had three daughters.  She later met and married Terry Burger, father of three, on January 27, 1990. They spent the last 28 years caring for family, enjoying time with family and friends, and pursuing their shared love of travel.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Johanna and Walter, brother Jim, and daughter Dr. Laura Kay. She is survived by her loving husband, Terry Burger, five children: Brad Burger (Robin) Platte Woods, Brenae Tapp (Josh) Shawnee, Patty Kay Danon San Diego, Bryan Burger (Erika) Shawnee, Christy Kay (Nolan) Overland Park along with eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, KS on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. A private inurnment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
