Judith A. McLaren, 74, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away August 29, 2022. She was born on November 3, 1948, in Keokuk, Iowa.

She earned a master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Missouri and spent most of her career teaching in Kansas City Missouri Public Schools.

Judy was a softhearted person for all who needed compassion and empathy. With open arms, she embraced relationships of love with family, friends, and animals. As a teacher, she spread her kindness to many blossoming souls. Not only did she teach hundreds of children to read, but she also showed them patience, caring and understanding.

Judy had a constant smile and contagious laughter. She had an open heart for all who were fortunate to be shown. She enjoyed helping in the community, and served as a volunteer for Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Judy attended Church of the Resurrection, in Overland Park, Kans.

Judy was blessed with many loving friends and cherished family. She is survived by her son, Billy McLaren, niece, Stacey Watson, great-nephews, Beckett and Brooks Watson, brothers Ronnie Burrus and George Burrus, and sister, Janice Taylor.

No Celebration of Life will be held at this time.
