Judy Gail (Carter) Fritts, Overland Park Kansas, 68, passed away peacefully at Kansas City Hospice
House, September 25, 2021. Judy was the second child born to Norman E. and Marian L. Carter, in
Kansas City Missouri, on February 16, 1953.
Judy was a Beloved Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. She will be remembered for her classy style and
grace, wonderful smile and twinkling blue eyes.
Judy graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1971. Not long after, she moved East to
join sister Debbie in Norfolk Virginia where they were Navy spouses. There, they enjoyed years living in
a duplex, side by side, providing companionship to one another while their husbands were at sea.
Upon return to her hometown of Overland Park, Kansas, Judy began working for Bendix Aviation
(Allied/Honeywell) at the Bannister Federal Complex, and she was a member of Local 778 International
Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. She made many fond friends and acquaintances
along the way and retired there after 35 years.
Judy’s nieces will remember her love of scary movies, delighting them with staying up late on Friday
nights when she would babysit, and introducing them to Hitchcock classics and The Twilight Zone.
Everyone, family and friends alike, knew Judy as the ultimate animal lover. How she adored her furry
friends! Judy always had a dog or two, loving many throughout her life, and a cat she rescued and
nursed to health that lived a life of luxury along side her canine friends. Judy had a special place in her
heart for all animals, many that will be running to greet her - tongues licking and tails wagging- in
Heaven.
Judy was preceded in death by her father Norman E. (“Boots”) Carter in July 1990 and her brother
Dennis N. Carter in July 2010.
Judy is survived by her longtime companion, Donald Ketchum. They shared a mutual love of travel, and
they had the opportunity to enjoy many “Excellent Adventures” together. They traveled both coasts,
visited National Parks, enjoyed time in California, Boston, Yosemite, and many more. They rented fun
cars to drive, dined on seafood, drank wine, and saw the United States in style.
She is survived by her loving mother, Marian L. Carter, Overland Park, KS, sister Debbie Ferguson
(Larry) Osceola, MO, three nieces; Belinda Gail Malara (Matt) Lenexa, KS, Kelley Lynne Lee (Jeff)
Clinton, MO, Lauren Carter Ferguson (Liz) Clinton MO, three great- nephews; Nikolas Carter Lee, Myles
