Judy Redmond, age 69, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday September 14, 2024, at her home in Shawnee, Kansas. Judy was born July 26, 1955, in Mansfield, Ohio and was the daughter of Jim and Mary Gish.
Judy graduated from Lexington High School in Lexington, Ohio and soon after began her career at United Telephone Company. The organization changed names several times during her tenure, and she held a variety of management positions as she moved with the company from Ohio to North Carolina and then to Kansas City, where she eventually retired from Embarq.
Judy was a fun-loving, free spirit with a vibrant personality and a unique ability to light up any room. She was a friend to all that knew her, a devoted and generous Mother, Daughter, Sister, Mamaw, Aunt, and Friend. For someone that had it all, she truly knew how to give. Judy loved sports and was a dedicated, life-long Cleveland and Ohio State fan. When she wasn’t rooting on her home teams, you could often find her on the sidelines of her grandchildren’s games, supporting them faithfully. Judy enjoyed gardening, shopping, live music, and traveling—and would never pass up the opportunity for a beach day. She loved coordinating moments of togetherness and cherished the time she spent hosting family dinners and events. She will be so deeply missed.
Judy is survived by her daughter and son, Lindsay Marcy and Tyler Powell (Natalie); grandchildren Chase (19), Travis (15), Julian (12), Ava (10), Easton (9), and Sutton (7); sister Linda Stevens; brother Jim Gish, Jr. (Susie); nieces and nephews, Rachel Gish, Hanna Gish, Brandon Stevens, Dale Stevens, and Brent Stevens; and many beloved extended family members in Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Mary Gish, husband Ken Redmond, and brother-in-law Bob Stevens.
A private service for the family was held at Amos Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas and an aerial spreading of ashes will take place off the coast of Anna Maria Island, Florida in the Gulf of Mexico later this year.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent in her name to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, The Mayo Clinic Department of Oncology, or Buckeyes Against Cancer at The Ohio State University.
