June Eileen Stevens Parge of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away from natural causes on November 15, 2018 at the age of 97. June leaves behind a daughter, Janis R. Dickey and son-in-law John Dickey of Olathe, Kansas; son Kirk Parge and daughter-in-law Michelle Parge of Troy, Idaho; seven grandsons, and eight great grandchildren.
June was born June 15, 1921 in Hockerville, Oklahoma, an old mining town, to Jobe and Ruth Stevens. Jobe eventually moved the family to Joplin, Missouri where June and her two younger siblings, Robert and Karole, were raised. June graduated from Joplin High School in 1939, and after working in the family stores, she was drawn to California and moved there in her 20’s.
In Los Angeles in 1951 June attended a dance at the famous Figueroa Ballroom where she met, then married, Raymond G. Parge. After the birth of their two children Ray and June settled in Anaheim, California.
June was active in her faith and the Baptist church, was a homemaker/real estate agent, and throughout her life continued to enjoy her passions- singing and dancing. In fact, right up to her final days June was still going to the dances at her retirement residence. June was a consummate dresser, went nowhere without her camera, and spoke kindly about everyone she knew.
June leaves behind a legacy of grace and love and went without apprehension into "that good night." She will be missed by family and friends alike. Her celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 1 at 11:00 am at the chapel in the John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit.
