June Teeple Rawlings

June 30, 1921 — March 5, 2012

June Teeple Rawlings passed away peacefully March 5, 2012, at Kansas City Hospice House.

She was born June Evelyn Foster on June 30, 1921 in Superior, Wisconsin, the youngest of four children and the only girl of Alice Amelia Kelley Foster and Robert John Foster.

June graduated from Pontiac High School in Pontiac, Michigan, in 1938. She was married to Fred Teeple in 1941 until his passing in 1975. During their life together they moved several times with the General Motors Corp., living in Pontiac, Michigan, Villa Park, Illinois, Garden City, Kansas, and ending in Overland Park in 1957. She was married in 1981 to Ed Rawlings and spent their life together in Overland Park until his passing in 1998.

June led a happy joy filled life, and always had a wonderful sense of humor. The memories of her family and friends always included how much fun they all had. She was very creative and a talented artist, singer, tap dancer and baker. She created entertainment programs at several elder hostels and at her church, using her artistic talents in everything she did. One of her first jobs was at Waites Department Store in Pontiac, cutting freehand silhouettes for customers. In Overland Park she worked for JC Penney at the store in Mission, and retired as a customer service supervisor at the JC Penney Credit Office. She also managed the round medical building in Mission for several years, and loved working with the Mission Chamber of Commerce during that time.

June served as a Stephens Minister, and as a Coordinator of Congregational Care at Overland Park, and Circle of Faith Christian Churches. She was also a member of St. Andrew Christian Church. She traveled extensively on many continents with family and friends. She loved telling stories of her travels. She will be terribly missed by her many friends and large family.

June is survived by her four children, John Teeple and Sandy of Overland Park, Linda Fairchild and Karlan of Dallas, Kathryn Summers and Ralph of Lawrence, Tom Teeple and Linda of Overland Park, and Ed’s son, Ed Rawlings and Janice of Overland Park. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
