Jurie (Woolery) Lindley 60 of Southampton, Massachusetts, passed away May 30, 2011, after battling pancreatic cancer for 2 ½ years.
She was born April 11, 1951, in Parsons, Kansas, and is the only child of the late Leon and Helen (Taylor) Woolery.
She graduated from Parsons High School (1969), attended Labette County Community College and Kansas State University, and graduated from the University of Louisville (1973) with a B.S. in Home Economics.
Jurie married David M. Lindley, the love of her life, in 1971. Her greatest joys were their two children, Jana and Todd, and grandson Taylor Mickey.
After college she worked as a home economist for a utility company giving consumer programs. After their children were born, she operated a small cottage craft business, taught in a kid's day out program, and was a receptionist in dental offices. Her primary role, however, was mom and she enjoyed all that came with it—participating in a church co-op preschool and serving on its board, serving in many roles and offices of PTA from grade school through high school, volunteering with church children's education programs and youth groups. Their kids knew their friends were always welcome at their home and she liked having all of them around. She loved watching their children participate in their many activities, from football to swimming, drill team to soccer, roller hockey to tennis, student government to youth group, and served in many supporting roles throughout these years. Many of her good friends came from these wonderful years.
Jurie and Dave were married for 39 years and happily raised their family in Overland Park, Kansas. Throughout their married life they also lived in Wichita, Kansas, Louisville, Kentucky, Irvine, California, Austin, Texas, and Southampton, Massachusetts. She enjoyed holidays together, family vacations, boating at Table Rock Lake, entertaining, home decorating, all kinds of crafts from painting to quilting to scrap booking.
She leaves her husband David, daughter Jana Mickey (Craig), son Todd Lindley (Sarah), grandson Taylor Mickey, cousins Beverly Kozlowski (Gene) and Nancy Dowell (Gary), sister-in-law Peggy Taylor (Terry), nephews Paul and Adam Taylor (Deborah).
Donations in memory of Jurie may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
