Karen J. Cook, 70 of Shawnee, Kansas passed away May 15, 2009. Karen was born May 10, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri to William and Geraldine Boles. She attended Kansas City Art Institute and was employed by Hallmark Cards for several years. She was united in marriage to Joseph A. Cook ,Jr. To this union four children were born. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the adult choir for over 30 years. Karen enjoyed swimming and loved to travel. She was also a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Joseph in 1989. She is survived by her brother Dr. J. Michael Boles and his wife Connie; by her children Steve Cook and wife Kathy of Shawnee, Lynn Dame and husband Paul of Basehor, Lisa Webb and husband Cameron of Olathe, and Katie Nolan and husband Dan of Shawnee. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Memorial contributions in Karen’s memory may be made to Sister Servants of Mary.

Visitation and Funeral Services

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2009, from 6 to 8 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, Kansas followed by entombment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
