Karen D. Ferbezar, 58, of Shawnee, passed away Sunday, June, 12, 2016 at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Karen was born December 13, 1957 to Don and Norma Exine Harness in Kansas City, Missouri. Karen was a lifelong metro resident having graduated from Raytown High School and earned an associate's degree from CMSU.
Karen was an active member of Shawnee Community Christian Church (formerly Shawnee Park Christian Church). Over the years, she served as a Sunday school teacher, Fellowship Chair and loved being known as the "Snack Lady" for VBS. Karen also organized her church's "Love Line" to help families in need of support. She was also very involved in her children's activities. Karen volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and served with the PTA. Karen is preceded in death by her father, Don Harness in July of 2012.
She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, David; three children, Adriane M. Ammerman and husband Eric; Evan J. Ferbezar and wife Rachel; Emily A. Ferbezar and fiancé Kurt Barnett; her mother, Norma Exine Harness; three brothers, Bradley Harness; Brian Harness and wife Zella; Wayne Harness and wife Lisa; two grandsons, Ethan and Asher Ammerman.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm. Friday, June 17 at the Amos Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial following in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shawnee Community Christian Church, 5340 Martindale Road, Shawnee, KS 66218.
