Kathleen "Kay" (Brand) Latimer

Kathleen “Kay” Brand Latimer, 89, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17th in Leawood.

Kay was born January 27, 1934, to the late Isla Brand and Henry Brand in Minnesota. She was lovingly raised in Virginia, Minnesota and later moved to Denver, Colorado where she graduated from St. Mary’s High School. Kay married the love of her life, Charley Latimer. They fell in love in California and were married 66 years. Kay and Charley moved to Kansas City as Charley made a career with TWA. Kay devoted herself to her children and her grandchildren. She cared for many neighborhood children along the way. Consequently, she always had a playful spirit around young people. Kay loved to bake. She always had cookies in the cookie jar. Everyone was welcome in her home. Charley and Kay loved road trips around the country and often visited loved ones along the way.

Kay is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charley Latimer and son in law, Christopher Kenny. She is survived by her two daughters, Suzanne Kenny; Georgia Klos and husband Craig; a son, Rob Latimer; seven grandchildren, Matthew Kenny and wife Paige; Christopher Kenny and wife Sophia; Betsy Knutsen and husband Nick; Sam Klos; Maggie Klos; Elaina Mahoney and husband Matthew; Mitchell Latimer; five great grandchildren, Colin Knutsen; Birdie Knutsen; Clare Kenny, Micah Kenny, and Grace Kenny.

Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 23 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 8311 W 93rd Street, Overland Park, KS. Mass will be to follow at 11:00 a.m. Kay will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS.
