Kathryn Kay Mcnemee

March 28, 1966 — April 15, 2021

Kathryn (Kathy) Kay Eisenbarth McNemee was born on March 28, 1966 in Elgin, North Dakota to Ronald and Ramona (Schaffer) Eisenbarth. She passed away peacefully after a year long battle with cancer on April 15, 2021 at Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

Growing up on the family farm, Kathy enjoyed making mud pies, playing with the kittens, riding horses, trail rides and being active in 4-H. Her lifelong love of music began with singing at the Zoar United Methodist Church. Kathy played guitar and drums in high school and continued to enjoy music throughout her life. She attended school in New Leipzig, ND graduating in 1984. Kathy went on to attend Jamestown College where she majored in Elementary Education, with minors in English and Early Childhood Education graduating in 1988.

Kathy moved to Kansas City soon after graduation and taught at First Baptist Church Punkin Patch Child Development Center, Kansas City, MO. This began her years of teaching and working with children because of her love and passion for them. Kathy’s professional career included serving people through her seventeen years at New Directions Behavioral Health and four years at Mid-America Regional Council (MARC).

An avid reader, Kathy enjoyed book club and sharing her love of Jodi Piccoult novels with others. She also loved playing card and board games and assembling puzzles. She was devoted to her family. Kathy attended every game for her boys and it brought her great joy to play with her grandchildren.

Kathy’s greatest love was her faith in Jesus Christ, her family and her friends. Kathy is survived by her husband of 21 years, Charles McNemee, her two sons, Gabriel Hastings (Holley) and Jonathan Hastings (Bekah), her stepsons, Chip (Kirsten), Sean (Heather), Ethan (Marla) and her grandchildren: James, Ensley, Aspen, Margot, Peyton, Kady, Taylor, Rylee and Evelyn. Kathy is also survived by her parents, Ronald and Ramona Eisenbarth, her sister, Janet Beckman (Chris, Tess & Tony Walker) and her brother, Greg Eisenbarth (Becky, Ethan, Evan, Erron & Erik).
