Keith Earl Irwin

Keith E. Irwin, 80, died Friday, February 8, 2013, at his home in Shawnee, Kansas.

Keith was born in Sabetha, Kansas, February 14, 1932, and grew up on a farm near Centralia, Kansas. He was the youngest child of Boyd and Margaret Frehe Irwin. He graduated from Centralia High School and then joined the US Navy where he served aboard the USS Monssen during the Korean War.

After military service, he went to work at Kansas City, Missouri old downtown airport where he retired after 40 years as Line Manager of Executive Beechcraft. He then worked part-time for Brotherhood Bank and Trust Co. for 14 years.

He was a member of Shawnee American Legion Post 327 and Shawnee Presbyterian Church for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Emily Redding Irwin, of the home; son, Dennis Irwin and his wife Colleen of Lake Quivira, Kansas; daughter Billie Jo Saylors and her husband Jeff of Eudora, Kansas; sisters, Kathryn Davidson, Topeka, Kansas and Dorothy Reinhart, San Diego, California; three grandchildren: Kellie Maguire and husband Marty, Overland Park, Kansas; Cole Saylors and wife Lisa, and Maggie Jo Saylors, all of Eudora. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Vivy Jo, Troy and Scarlett Saylors and Mason Maguire.

Memorial service is 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas. Friends are invited to visitation and lunch with the family after the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, Kansas.
