Kenneth Lee Graham

Kenneth Lee Graham, 88, passed away on May 22, 2013. Ken was born April 15, 1925, in Pittsburg, Kansas, the oldest son of Louis Orville and Clarice Helen (Briggs) Graham.

Growing up in Fort Scott, Kansas, Ken began his working career as a paper boy. After high school Ken went to work for Key Industries where he met his wife, Rosie Thomas. They married on August 18, 1945. With their two small boys, they moved to Kansas City, Kansas, where Ken worked at Colgate Palmolive for 33 years, retiring in 1983. He was an active member of the Community of Christ Church throughout his life, attending several congregations. In 1971 the family, with the addition of a daughter, moved to Shawnee, Kansas. In 2003 Ken and Rosie moved to Brighton Gardens of Prairie Village where Ken volunteered to deliver the daily newspaper. He also called bingo for both the Assisted Living and the Long Term Care residents. The family would like to thank the entire staff for their care of Ken during his final years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rosie, after 63 years of marriage in 2008, his parents, and one brother, Harold in 1993.

Ken is survived by three children: Dale (Linda), Steve (Sharyn), and DeAnn (Steve) Bender; five grandchildren: Aaron (Akiko), Erica (Carson) Kermode, Christa (Jeff) Corrie, Michele (Jason) Goff and Natalie Bender; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert and Billy (Shirley).

Kenneth leaves his family, extended family, his church family and many, many friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 26, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013, also at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Community of Christ Church.
