Kimber Arnold Edmunds, Sr., 91, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at his home.
Kim was born November 29, 1921, in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, to Raymond John and Alice Edmunds. He was the fourth of nine children. He went to work in the coal mines when he was 15 years old. Kim was in the Navy SeaBees during WWII. He met his wife, Helen "Chickie" Davidson during the war.
After the war, they moved to the Kansas City area from Pennsylvania where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for the remainder of his career.
Kim was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Helen on May 15, 2001 and five of his siblings. Survivors include his sisters, Thelma and Connie; brother, Dick; son, Buzz Edmunds and wife, Cathy, Alabama; daughter, Sue Parsons and husband, Dave, Lenexa, Kansas; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Shawnee Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m.; burial in the Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.
